In Ecclesiastes 3:1, God asserts, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Christmas time is a season to be jolly; the season of joy and happiness. But it's also a season of receiving; moreover, this is that season to tap into what God has in store for you; however, a prerequisite to obtaining what is awaiting you is "believing."
To believe indicates accepting (something) as true; to have a conviction that (a person or thing) is, has been, or will be engaged in a given action or involved in a given situation. God is still on the giving end, waiting for you to receive. Sadly, sometimes we miss out on receiving what He desires to impart to us.
There are two reasons why we miss out on what God wants to give us: First is Not Asking. Every time a child requests something and he or she gestures, I would say to them, "speak, use your words." Because when you speak your words it is a more powerful effective method for conveying your message or making a request. This is the same method that Jesus used, even though He knows exactly what we need, He still wants us to ask Him.
Jesus tells us to, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" (Matthew 7:7). He knows, what you want from Him, But He just wants you to ask Him, and this is the perfect time to make your request known. Remember, James 4:2, "……..yet ye have not, because ye ask not."
God is waiting to give you what you need in this season, all you have to do is open your mouth and ask him, "If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7:11- NIV)
Second, The lack of faith (not believing when you ask). "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6) The bible tells us of the story about a man that needed healing for his son. This man knew that Jesus was able to perform the miracle, but it was his own lack of faith that hindered his child's blessing. This is why Jesus said, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief" (Mark 9:24, NLT). Isn't that an oxymoron, it's like he was simultaneously saying, "Yes, I know you can do it, but I don't know if you can do it". This is how it is for many individuals, you know that God is able to do the exceedingly and abundantly, but you are dubious that He can really do it.
Unbelief can keep individuals from receiving what God is ready and able to give to them, I want to encourage you and help reinforce your faith so you can receive what God has for you. Remember when you were a kid and you woke up on Christmas morning, the first thing you did was run and look under the tree, to see which gift had your name on it. Well, today is your Christmas day and God has that gift in His hands with your name on it, waiting for you to receive it; but you just have to believe!
My Pastor preached a word last Sunday, affirming that this was truly the season to receive what God had for us. She prophetically declared that, "What God has prepared for us, we have to receive it in this time and season!" It's your time and T'is the season to receive, but you have to Believe!
